Detailed Job Duties & Specifications
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Core specialized tasks include:
Employee Badge Identification
Each worker will receive an employee identification badge free of charge for safety and payroll logging. Badges must be kept on your person and presented at the start and end of every shift.
Laying Plastic & Fertilizer
Loading 75 to 80 lb. plastic rolls and 50 lb. drip tape rolls onto distribution machinery. Workers will ride equipment to ensure even distribution, shovel fertilizer out of hoppers to clear clogs, clean equipment, paint numbers, and wrap/tuck field row ends with handheld shovels.
Irrigation Installation & Maintenance
Assembling and executing connections on poly irrigation grid lines in crop rows. Tasks include seasonal extraction, shovel support, fixing leaks, replacing high-efficiency field jets, and line flushing procedures.
Planting & Replanting
Unloading plant trays from delivery containers to planting machinery, manually nesting seedling roots in earth pockets, and tracking behind mechanical planters to backfill missed rows. Replanting requires hand-carrying 1 to 5 lb. replacement trays into rows.
Crop Staking
Carrying heavy bundles of field stakes from truck beds to ground rows. Ground deployment relies either on operating an air hammer system attached to a tractor or utilizing manual sledgehammers to drive posts 12" to 14" deep into soil profiles.
Job Requirements & Testing
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 Month of verified commercial agricultural experience.
- Special Requirements: The employer may conduct post-employment drug/alcohol screenings at the employer's expense.
- Guaranteed Minimum Wage: $11.82 per hour is guaranteed for H-2A workers regardless of task distribution variations.
